  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla and mashed bananas.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. For the frosting, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Once the cakes are completely cool, spread cream cheese frosting between the layers and on top of the cake.
