Ingredients
Scale
6 cups day-old bread, cubed
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
4 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup whiskey
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, combine the milk, cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, whiskey, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
Add the cubed bread to the mixture, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Let it sit for about 30 minutes.
If using pecans, fold them into the mixture.
Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted comes out clean.
While the pudding is baking, prepare the whiskey caramel sauce by combining sugar and water in a saucepan, cooking until it turns a deep amber color before carefully adding cream and whiskey.
Once the bread pudding is done, let it cool slightly and then drizzle with warm whiskey caramel sauce before serving.
