Chocolate Mousse Cake

Indulge in a rich and creamy chocolate mousse cake that is easier to make than you think!

  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 6 large eggs, separated
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the chocolate and butter together in a double boiler, stirring until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Stir the chocolate mixture into the egg yolk mixture along with vanilla and salt.
  5. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  6. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture.
  7. In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and then fold into the batter.
  8. Pour the batter into a greased springform pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  9. Allow the cake to cool before removing from the pan.
  10. Chill in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

  • For a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate.
  • Top with whipped cream or chocolate shavings for decoration.
