French Onion Chicken Orzo Casserole

A delicious and hearty casserole combining French onion flavors with chicken and orzo, topped with crispy turkey bacon.

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 4 slices turkey bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 1 cup onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (Swiss or Gruyère)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, sauté onions until caramelized.
  3. In a large bowl, combine orzo, shredded chicken, turkey bacon, caramelized onions, beef broth, heavy cream, garlic powder, and thyme. Mix well.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish and top with shredded cheese.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider stirring in some sautéed mushrooms.
