- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 6 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup water
- Vegetable oil for frying
- In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in water until the dough forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
- Roll out the dough and cut into circles.
- Cook apples with cinnamon and nutmeg until tender. Place filling on one half of the dough circle and fold the other side over it, sealing the edges.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer and fry the pies until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
