- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar, for rolling
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Roll the dough into balls and then roll in granulated sugar.
- Place on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers are soft.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add more ground ginger or cinnamon.
