  • 2 green plantains
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Peel the plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the plantain slices and fry them until golden, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Remove the plantains and flatten them using a tostonera or the bottom of a cup.
  5. Return the flattened plantains to the hot oil and fry again for another 2-3 minutes until crispy.
  6. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding garlic powder to the salt.
  • Store leftover tostones in an airtight container in the fridge.
