  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract, then sift in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.

  9. Once the cakes are cool, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of whipped cream and strawberries on top.
  10. Place the second cake layer on top and repeat with more whipped cream and strawberries. Serve immediately.
